Short answer: You can check FIDO2 registration and sign-in on Token2’s public demo site, before touching production systems.
Before you start
- A fingerprint must be enrolled on the card
- An NFC-capable phone, or a PC with an NFC reader
Note: this test uses a third-party website. The FIDO2 demo site is operated by Token2, not IDEX. We link to it because it lets you test registration and sign-in without needing an account. You are leaving idexbiometrics.com, and Token2’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
Step 1: Open the demo site
www.token2.com/tools/fido2-demo
Step 2: Set the options
On the demo site under register, select:
- User Verification: never ask for PIN
- Authentication Type: Physical key
The site generates a random username. Do not refresh the page between registration and sign-in – the test will reset.
Why there’s no PIN
The fingerprint match is the verification step, which is why signing in only requires one tap. The PIN is the fallback: if fingerprint verification fails and the allowed attempts are used up, the service may ask for your PIN instead. Entering it completes the sign-in and re-enables fingerprint verification.
Step 3: Register the card
- Click Register Key on the Token2 site.
- Place your finger on the card’s sensor before bringing the card to the NFC reader.
- Keep your finger on the sensor and hold the card at the reader until the browser finishes.
- Continue only once the site confirms registration is complete.
Important: your finger must be on the sensor at the moment you tap. The card has to verify your fingerprint and present the credential simultaneously. This is the most common reason a test fails.
Step 4: Log in with the card
- Click Log in with key on the same page.
- Place the same enrolled finger on the sensor.
- Hold the card at the reader until the browser confirms sign-in.
If it doesn’t work
- A Windows dialog asks how you want to sign in – choose the security key option, not a phone or tablet.
- Nothing happens at the reader – reposition the card. On iPhone the antenna is at the top of the front of the phone. See: The phone cannot see the card.
- Registration worked but login fails – the page was refreshed. Start again from the beginning.
