Short answer: When a service asks for your security key: place your enrolled finger on the card's sensor, then hold the card to the smartcard (NFC) reader, and keep both in place until the sign-in completes.
The method
- Finger on the sensor (the finger you enrolled)
- Card to the NFC reader while the finger stays on the card
- Hold steady until the browser or app confirms
If the fingerprint cannot be verified
If fingerprint verification fails and the allowed attempts are used up, the service may ask for your PIN instead. Entering it completes the sign-in and re-enables fingerprint verification. See: Set your PIN.
