Short answer: The PIN cannot be recovered or reset. The card allows a limited number of wrong attempts – the app shows how many attempts remain – when they run out, the card locks permanently. A locked card cannot be restored; it should be disposed of securely and replaced. This applies from the moment the PIN is set – including during enrolment.
If you have forgotten the PIN
Do not continue trying. Wrong attempts count towards the limit, and nothing unlocks the card once it is reached. Contact whoever issued your card – to arrange a replacement.
If the card is locked
The card cannot be restored. Dispose of it securely, or hand it to your IT department, and have the old card's credentials revoked while the replacement is arranged. See: Lost or stolen card: revoke and replace.
Why there is no reset
A recovery mechanism would also be available to anyone else holding the card. Its absence is deliberate, and the limit on wrong attempts is what protects the card against repeated guessing.
Avoid it next time
Choose a PIN you will remember when you set it. You sign in with your fingerprint, so you will not type the PIN often – but on cards with FIDO it is needed to register the card with services, and it is the fallback when the fingerprint cannot be verified. See: Set your PIN.
